Avoid pain disguised as pleasure
An “enlightened,” tolerant society like ours makes little mention of sin. The “sin” label seems too harsh to describe another person’s private choices. And nobody’s perfect, right?
Even followers of Jesus vary widely in their emphasis on sin. Some seem overly burdened by their failures; others speak only of their freedom from sin’s penalty. The apostle Paul himself spoke of being dead to sin in one sentence and struggling to resist his own sin in another. What should be the proper emphasis on sin? Can we really live above sin’s dominion?
